Iden Versio ability

Iden’s ability (interceptor) says cancel a hit or crit. If there is a hit and a crit coming in, can Iden choose to cancel the crit? Or is does it just cancel the next damage (the hit)?

Step 5 of an Attack specifies:

"If the attack hits, the defender suffers damage for each uncanceled HIT and CRITICAL HIT result in the following order:

a. The defender suffers 1 HIT damage for each uncanceled HIT result. Then cancel all HIT results.

b. The defender suffers 1 CRITICAL HIT damage for each uncanceled CRITICAL HIT result. Then cancel all CRITICAL HIT results."

You can choose when to activate Iden's ability due the fact that every damage is a sub-step of step 5.
