Determination and Fanatical

If the ship has one shield up going into its attack and uses determination, thus becoming not shielded in the middle of missing its attack, can it use fanatical for that attack?

RRG FAQs (Engagement Phase and Attacking section) state: "effects resolved during Step 2b: Modify Attack Dice and 3b: Modify Defense Dice do not use the ability queue, as they are resolved in the order described in that section of the rules reference."

So you can use Determination and sacrifice your last shield to add a focus result, then you can use Fanatical to modify that focus into hit result because the requirement is met when you activate the Talent.
