Rolling dice in batches

In the context on the original roll of dice, can you roll half the dice then the other half? Like if you’re rolling 5 dice, can you roll 3, then roll the other 2, before modding.

The player should roll the correct number of dice all at once, if possible. If there are not have enough dice available, the player should roll all the available dice, keep track of the results, and then roll again with as many as are needed to complete the roll.
